6 Questions You Should Ask Your Safety Grill Supplier

When it comes to home safety, many high-rise homeowners choose to invest in safety grills in Malaysia to protect and safeguard their children and pets to prevent unwanted mishaps from occurring as well as to expand their living spaces.

For these reasons, grills have become one of the must-haves for homes in Malaysia, and there are various types of grills to choose from, be it conventional mild-steel grill or invisible safety grill.

However, given the variety of safety grill choices, it can be more difficult to choose a safety grill supplier for your home. If you’re facing such a situation, don’t fret because we’re here to help. Let’s look at some of the questions you should ask before considering their services.

1)  What’s the best material for a safety grill?

Most safety grills in Malaysia are made from stainless steel, or aluminium. At KLIG, we use premium anti-rust 316L stainless steel for our cable due to its anti-rust property and durability. Besides, safety grills that are made from stainless steel offer an advantage in terms of safety and durability as they are highly resistant to rust and have high durability, especially under Malaysia’s extreme weather.

2)  How much does it cost to install safety grills in Malaysia?

This is a tricky yet necessary question to ask your potential safety grill suppliers. That’s because the cost can vary depending on various factors like the size of installation area (square feet), the material of grill cable, cable coating, bracket finishing, the complexity of installation (obstructions by air-con compressors, existing structural damages), etc.

If you have a budget to follow, make sure to highlight it during your consultation with your safety grill supplier. That way, they can make suggestions based on your budget. Should you decide to install an invisible safety grill in Malaysia, the installation cost is from RM800 to RM1800 for a standard size condominium/apartment balcony.

3)  Is there any warranty and what does it cover?

Different safety grill suppliers offer different types of warranty. At KLIG, we offer two types of warranty – material warranty and installation warranty. The 10 years material warranty covers the 316L stainless steel cable core, NanoTetra coating, and aluminium bracket. The only exception that this warranty covers is for the Nylon coating (3 years warranty).

Meanwhile, the 3-year installation warranty covers installation related defects and issues such as bracket detachment, cracked wall, or lifted tiles.

4)  How durable is your safety grill in Malaysia?

Like most safety grills that are made to withstand breakage, our invisible safety grill is impossible to break by human force because the cables undergo extreme tensile testing and have been proven to withstand up to 250kg of force.

Besides, our cables can only be cut using a professional cable cutter. This means the use of inappropriate cutting tools is not advisable as that will only slow down the cutting process in the event of any emergency.

5)  Is the safety grill compliant with the Fire Department’s regulations?

Our safety grill is specifically designed with a Looping System that offers Fast and Easy Escape (FEE) during an emergency. Sure enough, our safety grill is compliant with the Fire Department’s regulations and requirements.

6)  Is there a difference between vertical and horizontal installation for invisible safety grill?

There is a difference in terms of safety. When the invisible safety grills are installed horizontally, they can act as a ladder for your children to climb on. In most cases, we would advise vertical installation as that will hinder them from hanging onto your safety grill for long periods.

In a nutshell, consider asking the questions above before you decide on a safety grill supplier because your decision will affect the safety level of your household.
